Nerlens Noel Signs 10-Day Contract with Brooklyn Nets

Free Agent Center Returns to NBA

New York, New York - March 4, 2023

Free agent center Nerlens Noel has signed a 10-day contract with the Brooklyn Nets, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The deal, which was announced on Saturday, comes after Noel began the 2022-23 season with the Philadelphia 76ers. The terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Noel, a 6'11" center, has played for seven NBA teams over the course of his career. He was selected by the New Orleans Pelicans with the sixth overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft and has since averaged 7.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game. Noel has also been a solid contributor on the defensive end, earning a reputation as a strong shot blocker and rebounder.

The Nets are currently in need of frontcourt depth, as they have been without starting center Ben Simmons since December. Noel is expected to provide some much-needed size and athleticism to Brooklyn's frontcourt rotation.

In his debut for the Nets on Tuesday, Noel played 20 minutes and finished with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks. He also helped the Nets secure a 111-106 victory over the Houston Rockets.

Noel's signing is a low-risk move for the Nets, who are hoping he can provide some stability to their frontcourt. If Noel can continue to play well, he could earn a longer-term contract with Brooklyn or another NBA team.
